A’s all the way!

A Level students were celebrating their success yesterday after discovering their hard work and dedication had paid off.  Chris Wilcockson, who achieved 2 A’s at AS Level said, “I’m absolutely chuffed with my results.  Coming to Derwentside College to do my A Levels was the best decision I’ve ever made”.

Picture caption: Some of the hi-achievers on A Level Results Day, front (l-r): Ross Thompson, Stephanie Walton, Chris Wilcockson.  Back row (l-r): Michelle Challoner, Tom Petty, Claire Hornsby and Martin Taylor.  Amongst them they achieved 13 A’s, with Ross and Stephanie gaining an A*/A grade in every subject.

Peer Supporters
by Angela Cummings - Monday, 14 June 2010, 01:00 PM

Would you like to become involved in College activities?

Are you interested in helping your fellow students?

The College is looking for students who would be willing to become Peer Supporters next year.

If you are returning to College next year and are interested in becoming a Peer Supporter, you can collect an application form from the Learning Advisers.  You must give your name to the Learning Advisers before you leave College at the end of term.

Car Parking - ConsettCan I just remind everyone that the first row of car parking spaces nearest the College building should be left vacant for visitors.

Smoking Area
by Angela Cummings - Wednesday, 5 May 2010, 01:42 PM

We have received some concerns from residents who occupy the houses near the smoking area. The complaints concern the use of bad language and litter being discarded over the fence. Could I please ask all who use this area not to use bad language, dispose of litter and cigarette ends appropriately and generally be more considerate towards  ‘the neighbours’.

I am sure this will not prove necessary but obviously anyone identified as a persistent offender may end up being subject to the student discipline procedure.
